T: What have we discussed
yesterday?
S: We discussed yesterday about the life and
works of Edgar Allan Poe.
T: Very good. In that case,
what is the style of Poe in Writing?
S: Poe's
work has been rated both brilliant and awful, but the stylistic attributes of
his writing deserve to be regarded with nothing but respect sir.
T: Very good. Now I will
ask you about your very memorable dream that you encounter. Is it ok
S: ok sir.
T: ok who can share his/her
very memorable dream?
S: I sir. It is about my
life that I have my wife and four children living happily and bountifully.
T: Wow! Let us give your
classmate a round of applause. Who else?
S: It is about my boyfriend
who has a third party sir. I hope that those are not true.
T: What a bad dream. We
hope so. We dream bad and good. Sometimes it is true but most of the time
false.
T: Ok class. Today we will
discuss the finest work of Edgar Allan Poe entitled “A Dream within a Dream”,
so sit back and listen carefully for I will read it first to you and you will
follow afterwards.

read the Poem)
A Dream within a Dream
By
Edgar Allan Poe
Take this
kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
